Dia de Todos los Santos - Friday 1st November

In Spain, November 1st is celebrated as Día de Todos los Santos (All Saints’ Day), a cherished holiday that honors deceased loved ones with a sense of reverence and tradition. Families visit cemeteries to clean and decorate graves with flowers, often gathering for quiet reflection and remembrance. While Halloween festivities bring spooky fun to the season, Día de Todos los Santos is a time to celebrate and respect the lives of those who have passed on.

In contrast, Latin American countries like Mexico celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with vibrant, lively traditions that combine indigenous and Catholic customs. Families create colorful altars, or ofrendas, adorned with photos, flowers, candles, and favorite foods of the departed, believing that souls return to share in the celebrations. Although both holidays share a similar purpose, their customs uniquely reflect the cultures and beliefs of Spain and Latin America.

So if you are here in the South of Spain and looking for a way to combine both the memorial holiday and the Latin celebrations, of course there are events taking place along the coast:

La Plage Casanis, Marbella East:

Enjoy the classic Mexican festival with Patron Tequilla at La Plage Casanis with a special fire show, and guest DJ Nilo with Dj set by Anton Bodnar.

Max Beach, Mijas Costa:

Family friendly lunchtime event with face painting, childrens activities and live music.
